The over all package composer-singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya is all set to face the camera once again for the remake of the 1977 musical super hit movie “Karz” after the grand success of his debut movie “Aap Ka Surroor” opposite teenager Hansika Motwani. The original movie directed by Subhash Ghai, had Rishi Kapoor playing the lead role of a reincarnted man who avenges his killing in previous life by his unfaithful wife (playing by Semi Garewal). Music by Laxmikant Pyarelal was definitely the one of the strongest points of the movie.
Urmila Matondkar will play a super glamorous 50 plus woman who lives in isolated splendor in a castle wears the most stunning clothes and plays out life queen size. She will be riding horses, flying planes and gambling the night away in casinos. Urmila says “The character will be an ageless diva. A very stylish and super exclusive heiress and her clothes and demeanor will reflect a kind of inherent glamor”.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Karzzz is a remake of Rishi Kapoor and Semi Garewal starrer 1980’s movie Karz. The leading lady of the remake is director Indra Kumar’s daughter Shweta who will make her debut opposite Himesh Reshammiya in Karzzz. While Shweta is cast in the role played by Tina Munim in the original blockbuster and Himesh steps into the shoes of Rishi Kapoor.
Directed by Satish Kaushik, the movie also stars Gulshan Grover, Dino Morea, Bakhtiyaar Irani, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa. Urmila’s favorite costume designer Manish Malhotra has worked on her clothes that will reflect the character’s dive like splendor.
Satish Kaushik’s Karzzz will be very different from original of Subhash Ghai. What will remain are three of Laxmikant Pyarelal’s (mostly known as L-P) tracks namely Dard-e-Dil, Om Shati Om and the theme song Ek Haseena The. This gives Himesh who sees himself as L-P’s inheritor , a change to pay homepage to his raga models.
Karzzz has been shoots in the stunning locales of Kenya and South Africa. The movie is expected to release on 17 October 2008. T-Series has bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts for the original movie.
